The Canal District has many convenient parking options. While construction activities may effect some on-street parking areas, convenient on-street parking options, parking lots, and the Union Station garage will be open throughout the construction period.

CANAL DISTRICT EMPLOYEE PARKING PROGRAMS

The City is offering two programs for discounted parking at the Union Station parking garage to employees of businesses in the Canal District.

Monthly Parking Program

  • Rate: $63/month, with unlimited in-and-out privileges

  • Recommended for: full-time employees

Canal District Employee Debit-Use Program

  • Rate: $3 per exit from the Union Station garage

  • Recommended for: part-time Canal District employees who park occasionally, say a few days per week

Applying for the Programs: Are you an employee in the District? Please contact ABM Parking at ABMWorcester@abm.com or (508) 799-1535 for an application. Proof of employment at a business in the Canal District is required for participation. ABM will process your application and let you know when you may pick up your parking access card.

Paying for the programs: Monthly Parking Program participants will make monthly payments and manage their account online. Payments can be made manually or automatically. Debit-Use Program participants will set up an account balance that debits $3 for every exit from the Union Station Garage with no recurring monthly payment. ABM will provide further details along with your card.

How the City is Managing Parking Throughout Construction

  • Establish a dedicated public information team and website to provide the latest information concerning upcoming construction work, parking options, and street closures.

  • Implement additional signage to direct Canal District visitors to available parking areas.

  • Prioritize on-street parking for customer/visitor use (2 hour limits).

  • Provide longer-term/daily parking opportunities for customers and employees at off-street parking lots and garages.

  • Ensure that construction workers don’t use parking spaces intended for use by Canal District visitors and residents.

  • Work with restaurants to expand valet services.

  • Maintain safe and convenient pedestrian access within the Canal District as well as to downtown and regional transportation services.

  • Expand on-street and off-street parking options where feasible (check website for latest info as new parking areas come online).
